Sports in Sooke April 11th 2026 – Blue Devils Junior Football Home Opener & Horseshoe Club Active

This weekend was overcast with a bit of drizzle but it didn’t stop sports activities from proceeding in Sooke. After our customary stop at Tim Horton’s for coffee we dropped by EMCS where the Blue Devils Junior Football program were having their home opener. They were hosting the Spartans from Victoria. There was a good crowd on hand and the EMCS parking lot was full. We took a number of photos of the first game, we’re guessing the Atom age group (7-9). Afterwards we dropped by the Horseshoe Pitching Association to get some photos of their renovations, scroll to the end to see those. If you use photos, please give credit to sookesports.ca in your posts.

Blue Devils Home Opener

When we left the Sooke Blue Devils were handily in the lead, #11 and #19 scored multiple touchdowns between them. It looks like it’s 6 aside football and the coaches are on the field to provide direction. More details to follow.

Horseshoe Pitching Association

You may have noticed a new structure going up across the street from the Fred Milne sports complex, that’s the Horseshoe Pitching Association building a roof over part of their facilities so they can play year round out of the rain. The roof has openings across the top, likely to have glass panels installed for extra light. There were a few members out throwing horseshoes in the drizzle, it looks like a friendly group, their website has more information on how to join.
