I drove to the Ravens Ridge Sports Box, 2430 Phillips Road, on a sunny Saturday in March, March 21st to be exact, to see what this relatively new facility looked like and how it was being used. The facility was officially opened on June 26th 2022 as described in this account “On a hot sunny Sunday summer late afternoon in Sooke, a long-time goal for the community was achieved. Headlining yesterday’s event to open the Sooke Community Sport Box at Raven’s Ridge Park was Premier John Horgan who is MLA for Langford-Juan de Fuca where Sooke is the core of his base.”
According to the official site run by SeaParc Recreation it features, “Outdoor lacrosse box, score clock (for use by permit holders), washrooms”. When I visited it was being used for skateboarding and ball hockey. While the the Skate Board Park in Sooke on Throup road is being renovated, the Ravens Ridge facility has some temporary jumps installed in half of the box, the other half has movable hockey nets. On the far side of the park lot there’s also a basketball court. Besides lacrosse which seems its main purpose, ball hockey and arena soccer look to be possibilities.
It’s possible to book it, the rates in the early spring of 2026 are listed as Youth $16.25/hr, Adult $32.50/hr and Commercial $65/hr. The site notes that booking won’t be available until late spring of 2026 when the new skateboard park on Throup is anticipated to be complete.
Here are some photos showing the Sports Box and the Basketball courts.
