The event was described as the “Raven Ridge Park Phase 2 Community Celebration” according to the District of Sooke website.

Enjoy activities with Sooke Youth Basketball, Sooke Minor Hockey and OneAbility, including wheelchair rugby (with Victoria Wheelchair Sports) and other accessible sports, backyard games with SEAPARC Recreation, complimentary face painting, and a free community barbecue thanks to MLA Dana Lajeunesse, with Sooke Lions Club volunteers serving hot dogs and sweet treats.
We arrived around 1pm and the event tents were plentiful but the spectators sparse. There were a few youngsters trying out the wheelchair rugby equipment supplied by Victoria Wheelchair Sports in the sports box. The Sooke Lions were firing up the BBQ but at 1pm there were few takers. There was signage upon entry to the event by One Ability Games which focuses on disability sports.

Several youth and an adult, perhaps an instructor, were trying out wheelchair rugby in the sports box

The gloves were a giveaway that the adult had done this before, everyone seemed to be having fun.
